Jungle Theme Birthday Cake

This past Saturday, my friend Jenan had a birthday party for her son Sulayman’s first birthday. It was a jungle themed birthday party.

Jenan put together an adorable dessert table. She asked me to make the cake and cupcakes. A six inch cake and mini cupcakes.

Going around the cake are fondant silhouettes of the same animals used in the party decor: giraffe, alligator, tiger, and lion. Each animal was hand cut. The wooden plank sign was also hand cut and imprinted.

To make it obvious that the orange silhouette is a tiger, I decided to add the tiger stripes.

The cake flavor was banana with chocolate ganache filling and a buttercream finish. The banana cake recipe that I use is just the most amazing recipe ever!! It’s from Rose Levy’s The Cake Bible which is a must have for all those that love to bake!

The mini cupcakes were banana flavor as well with chocolate ganache frosting.

It was an absolutely precious birthday party and dessert table. I’m honored to have been able to contribute to Sulayman’s special day. Happy Birthday Sulayman… and many more to come!!

Will be linking up at all the parties that you can find on my Let’s Party page. Hop on over!
