Got Change? (And Pink Fig Winner!)

The Mr. asked me to make him a container to put his spare change in. He wanted something cool. So I gave him a spaghetti sauce jar. Haha. Obviously that wasn’t good enough nor creative enough for him. He asked me why I don’t ever make him anything. Well, in my defense, when it comes to gifts he’s a tough guy to please. And I mean tough! He’s the “take the fun out of gift giving tough”! So I told him that the jar was all he’s going to get out of me. Then one day, I had an “ahuh” moment. I got an idea! A fun but yet simple idea. So simple that if the Mr. isn’t pleased with it, it would be okay. Well, sort of. :P

The idea starts out with this 1 liter bottle that used to have mango juice in it. Do you see what I see?

If you didn’t before, do you see it now? Looks like a milk bottle, doesn’t it? Got milk? Or how about got change?! Wouldn’t that make a fun and cute change jar? Well, since it’s for the Mr., maybe I shouldn’t call it cute.. let’s refer to it as a cool change jar. Or nifty… is nifty ok?

So off to work I went with the help of my Silhouette to make the got change? phrase. I used the Phenix American font which is the actual got milk? font. I was able to easily find that font for free online. The phrase was made out of vinyl. I had lost my transfer tape so instead I used masking tape to transfer the phrase onto the bottle.

Mr. finally gets his spare change jar! I’m not sure if this will meet his expectations, but I think it’s cool! That’s all that matters, right? Hehe. ;) What do you think?

Now on to the winner of the Pink Fig patterns giveaway! The winner is…

Ha! My husband asks me why I don't make him anything either! Uh, does he want a garland to hang at work?? This coin jar is cute *and* cool. I like that I can recreate the idea with stickers since I don't have a Shilouette. Congrats to the winner!

Very cool, indeed! I've recently started using a mason jar to collect spare dollars & change. Since it's out in the open, my husband and I both remember to use it often.

What is it with husbands wanting projects done for them?! Haha :)

That jar sure does look like an old fashioned milk bottle. Close enuf I'd say. What a great find. I'd love to get some of those to put in a trug my hubs made. (trug otherwise known as a tool carrier). I painted the biggest one he made in May today. The bottles with flowers would look cute in it.
The trug is one of few things he made from old wood in back yard for that craft show we were in in May. Decided to paint one of them today for something to do. Painted some frames yesterday pretty lime green yesterday for some bird pics I printed off of Graphic Fairy.
Hope you have a great week Maysem. When do your kids start school?
