Let Love Grow {Goodwill Chair Makeover}

Do you remember these chairs that I found at the Goodwill for $1.99? The chairs that I stole, but I really didn’t. Well, not literally stole, but mind as well call it that at $1.99!

I purchased them for Susu and Suraya. Suraya’s chair got it’s makeover (click on the above picture to check it out), but Susu’s didn’t. She decided she didn’t want it. No worries folks because I have my own plans for it! My plans were inspired by Shirley’s aqua chair over at her blog Housepitality Designs. If you haven’t already, be sure to stop by and check out Shirley’s beautiful home decor, gorgeous tablescapes, and more!

I spray painted the chair in Krylon’s avocado. Then I stained it using an ink pad and a sponge; same way I stained my new planters. I lightly dabbed the sponge with ink and swiped it on the chair along the areas I wanted to be stained. I used Versafine’s ink pad which dries up almost instantly on wood.

Then it was stenciling time! With my Silhouette (as if that’s a surprise;)), I made a stencil out of vinyl, transferred the void of the cut out to the chair with masking tape, dabbed on brown acrylic paint, and peeled the stencil. Easy as that and I have my phrase! Any of you listen to Mumford & Sons? If so, then you might recognize this phrase from their song Winter Winds. ;) I think this phrase is just perfect for this project!

I love the new look of the chair! My $1.99 Goodwill steal turned old country is all ready for it’s intended purpose. If you read my previous post and clicked over to see Shirley’s aqua chair, then you probably figured out what I plan on doing with this chair.

Yup, the chair is for my plants! Hey, they need a place to sit, don’t they? At the moment, that big guy is hogging the seat, but no worries the smaller guys are just as happy with where they sit.

I chose that particular plant to go into the bigger planter with hopes it will grow and start to hang down much like Shirley’s beautiful plant. One leaf is already leading the way. Get moving Miracle Gro!

I so love my plant vignette… I hope you do too.

    I have same type of chair but haven't done nothing to mine as yet
    Great job on your chair makeover and your Philadrendon plant looks pretty darn good sitting there.

    The second chair turned out great. I still love the purple version of it, though :). And, I love the plants with the words in your vignette. You have excellent taste. Let the love grow :)

    So pretty. I don't usually like that shade of green but it's perfect for that chair and your use of it. Love how you put the distressing on it.
    As with anything you do Maysem it's perfect. Wish we lived closer so we could craft together and I could get to know you better. Forgive me if that's too pushy for you.
    I finally got to Target last week, asked about the trays. Duh, the person I talked to didn't know anything about them, said I must be mistaken. Ah well. Did find small ones like those at Michaels but way too expensive. My hubs can make trays at alot less.
    I'm trying to figure out how I can sell our items from our shed in back yard. I'm just not up to having an etsy store besides not having a camera to put pics of items on it.
    I've been making the table runners with burlap and different fabrics I have. I have several vintage tablecloths I'll use for the ruffles or the main part and add other fabrics as the ruffles. I made one for my stand in bathroom that I store toiletries and towels, etc. on. We don't have a linen closet. Guess whoever had this mobile home before us didn't think one was needed when they ordered the house. Sorry if I told you all this before.
    Have a great week and upcoming weekend.

    What a great idea, featured in an article in Country Living or any other appropriate magazine. That would be so wonderful for you. Your talent should be shown to more people.

    Maysem very creative. I love how you piece everything together! Your flowers look wonderful with the chair! I agree you do need to be featured in a home magazine. More people need to see how amazing you are!
