Getting Ready for Spring

Here I am preparing for spring and we get a late February snow storm in Chicago. That’s Chicago for ya… and I’m loving it! It’s been kind of a pathetic winter here and I believe this was our biggest snow storm yet this winter… what I’ve been waiting for! In case you missed it, I’m a winter loving gal, and what’s winter without snow? Well, despite the fact that it looks like winter outside my window, on the inside it shows the contrary. Hehe! I’ve been slowly putting the winter decor away this past week. Slowly not only because I’m reluctant to say goodbye to winter, but also because inspiration was seeping in one piece at a time…. springy pieces. The main decorative components will remain the same mainly because I love them and they are not ready to move out! Whoever said that everything has to go, right? ;)

I can officially say that spring is in the air at the OTI home! My spring wreath is up which I shared last week in this post. I did give you a little sneak peak of my mantel last week, but I’ll share the rest of it in the next post. Today it’s all about the table centerpieces.

Spring Table CenterpieceStarting with my coffee table centerpiece. My frame tray is no stranger to this table… if you recall I first introduced the making of it in this post HERE for my fall centerpiece and again playing the same role in my winter centerpiece in this post HERE. Fall… winter… spring.. and on to summer too! I love this tray so it’ll be sticking around for a while! What will be changed around are the pieces sitting on top.

Fake Cross Stitch

One of the pieces some of you may recognize from last spring is my fake cross stitched birdie. Since I never did get around to learning the real thing, I’ll be sticking to my fake one a little longer. ;)

Country Chic Table Centerpiece

I decided to go with a little bit of a country chic look for my dinner table…. a galvanized tin vase, a crate, and my newly beloved chicken. I used fake flowers for the vase… but don’t they look real?!

Floral Vinyl Placemats

Not part of the centerpiece, but I think they deserve some attention are my new woven vinyl placemats that I purchased on my Dubai trip from the Zara Home store. I couldn’t resist them so they came home with me… they had my name written all over them! Haha! I didn’t even know Zara had a store just for the home… did you?

Those are my table centerpieces… ready for spring despite the beautiful snow outside! What does it look like where you live?

Maysem, your house is looking lovely and ready for spring. I know you are enjoying this snow but I am not. I want warm sunny days. And, I couldn't believe when I read that your little bird was done in faux cross stitch. Really? It fooled me. It's my favorite little detail.

I love your decor! You've made me want to grab my spring stuff out of storage. We've had snow here in Massachusetts, but I'm ready for it to be over, though. I'm not a winter person.
